I completed my first painting that was started after Pat Dews workshop. It is called "City on Fire" and seems to be part of a theme begun with "Fallen Buildings."
I was living in NYC on September 11, 2001 - and working on the Lower East Side at the time of the crashes. I walked all the way home which was over 50 blocks and arrived to find my block cordoned off by FBI because I lived very close to the United Nations. I spent the next two weeks in my apartment with the exception of trying to give blood. It was an awful time. I was afraid to go outside.
I hope that these two paintings can begin to express what I was feeling at the time. I think there will be more paintings in this series. Time will tell.
