OMG! I am in love with oil paint!!! It was an instant love affair for me as I began to mix the paint on my palette. My friend, Eden, attended the workshop with me. And we were both bitten by the bug - oil paint not ticks! ;) We've been going out together to paint twice a week since. And there is no end in sight. I need to order more panels to paint on!]]>
<![CDATA[Dancing in creation]]>Wed, 30 Oct 2013 04:03:32 GMThttp://redutsa.com/blog/dancing-in-creationI am finally finished with "Dancing in Creation" although it is still on easel with varnish drying. The piece has been a labor or love. I knew from the moment I started it that it was going to be something special. I have received such positive feedback from many of you. Thank you!

The title took quite some time to settle on. I asked for suggestions, and received many. Then I spent much time looking at the suggestions and the piece trying to resolve the two. i am happy to say that "Dancing in Creation" suits the piece perfectly!

<![CDATA[olana workshop]]>Mon, 23 Sep 2013 23:08:56 GMThttp://redutsa.com/blog/olana-workshopLast week I participated in an Evelyn Dunphy "Watercolor Painting Workshop" at Olana in Hudson, NY. We painted en plein air which is a fancy way to say outside! Since I do most of my painting in the studio, this was a very exciting experience. It was a two day workshop, but due to a migraine I was only able to participate in one day. Bummer.

Eveyln was amazing. I learned more in the one day I was there than I had expected to learn both days. She is a wonderfully talented and giving artist! I have posted my "Olana" painting to the gallery....

I have 6 more almost ready after an art-filled weekend with Ellen visiting. I should have the latest ones finished soon. It is always interesting to see the painting start, and then see it finished. What a metamorphosis!!!

<![CDATA[working through old wounds]]>Sat, 18 May 2013 17:39:41 GMThttp://redutsa.com/blog/working-through-old-woundsI completed my first painting that was started after Pat Dews workshop. It is called "City on Fire" and seems to be part of a theme begun with "Fallen Buildings."

I was living in NYC on September 11, 2001 - and working on the Lower East Side at the time of the crashes. I walked all the way home which was over 50 blocks and arrived to find my block cordoned off by FBI because I lived very close to the United Nations. I spent the next two weeks in my apartment with the exception of trying to give blood. It was an awful time. I was afraid to go outside.

I hope that these two paintings can begin to express what I was feeling at the time. I think there will be more paintings in this series. Time will tell.]]>
<![CDATA[Lily]]>Tue, 14 May 2013 00:30:45 GMThttp://redutsa.com/blog/lilyToday I finished the "Lily" painting. I am so happy that it is completed right as our garden lilies are budding up! I also did 2 starts yesterday and 1 today. I guess Pat Dews workshop really did rejuvenate my passion...exactly what I was hoping for.

I finished 3 paintings, worked on 1 in process and started another. What a joy to have my creativity freed up so that I can work like this.]]><![CDATA[Pat Dews' Workshop]]>Tue, 30 Apr 2013 02:30:50 GMThttp://redutsa.com/blog/pat-dews-workshopI just got back from taking Pat Dews' workshop in Boone, NC. What a great week. The new pieces you see in the gallery were generated during the workshop. There are more to come in the days and weeks to follow. I will also be uploading better scans of the paintings shortly. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them. PASSION!]]>
